A provider that quotes a fixed price without asking questions or inspecting may not treat the real cause. Good companies ask what you have seen, where and for how long, and inspect when the problem is unclear.

Ask which treatment will be used, and why
You should be told what will be applied, where, and what precautions to take for children, pets and food areas. Be cautious of anyone who cannot explain their method.

Ask about follow-up visits
Many pests, including bed bugs and cockroaches, need more than one visit because eggs survive the first treatment. Find out whether follow-up is included and what happens if pests return.

Get any guarantee in writing
If a company offers a guarantee, ask for the terms in writing: how long it lasts, what it covers and what you need to do to keep it valid.

Treating a restaurant kitchen, a hotel or a warehouse is different from treating a flat. Ask whether the company regularly works with properties like yours.
